We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Risk Specialist to join our team in the payments services industry. The Risk Specialist will play a critical role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating financial, operational, and regulatory risks associated with payment systems and transactions. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, where you will contribute to safeguarding the integrity of the company's payment services operations.

Under the direction of the Senior Risk Manager, the Risk Specialist is responsible for compliance-related functions as it relates to Maxio's portfolio, monitoring payment processing activities, identifying and reporting suspicious activities and other key tasks associated with overall compliance.  

 

WHAT:

  • Daily review of merchant activity for increased credit risk, transactional variations, dispute activity, and fraud patterns.  
  • Assisting with tasks related to Risk Management / loss prevention and other duties as assigned. 
  • Manage reporting required by Sponsor Bank, key departments, and as needed on an ad hoc basis. 
  • Respond to Risk related inquiries from internal and external parties, including merchants and Maxio partners. 
  • Investigate & resolve potential violations and recommend appropriate mitigation. 
  • Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, card brand rules and industry standards that could impact the organization’s compliance obligations. 
  • Overseeing investigations into abnormal customer activity and recommendation and implementation of appropriate mitigation. 
  • Provide white-glove support to key partners and merchants. 
  • Work closely with the Underwriting, Payments and Product teams as it relates to Maxio's overall strategy for loss prevention and risk mitigation.  

WHO:

  • 3-5 years prior experience in Risk Analysis within payments industry 
  • Understanding of the B2B SaaS industry  
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is a plus. 
  • Extensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, with a concentration in excel. 
  • Familiarity with Card Brand rules and regulations and ability to interpret them.  
  • Understanding of various and complex verticals and associated risks. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and facts in writing and otherwise. 
  • Understanding of emerging technologies and trends in the payments space. 
  • Ability to support, promote, and ensure alignment with the organization's vision and values. 
  • Ability to understand how an organization must change in light of internal and external trends and influences
